Swim caps keep your hair from getting completely wet (ie, your hair we will be damp). They also keep the hair from flying in your face and mouth while swimming, thus making you more aerodynamic and stream-lined.

I don't use rubber anymore because it started sticking after every pool use. I now use silicone, and i haven't had sticking problems at all. Granted the silicone caps are 3-5 bucks each, but they are worth the money and fit your head better. The rubber ones come in the brighter colors, however.

What my piano teacher does is dye her hair. And hers is short and because of all the dye in it, her hair is like the sand product that's movable in the water, yet comes out perfectly dry....kinda weird, but it works. Other than that, you could try a shower cap underneath a swim cap...which is a strange combination, but it might work. A shower cap on its own would not stay on properly.

Good luck!

I don't understand why you are losing hair. You lose hair just because it gets wet? Or is it because it takes too long to dry? If you provide additional info, we might be able to answer your question better.

If your hair is damaged and is breaking off, ask a stylist familiar with your hair for a leave-in conditioner that you can put on before you put on your cap. This will prevent chlorine damage and may help your hair's overall condition.
