A question about Linkin Park....?

Alright. I'm a Christian, but I came across some Linkin Park songs, Figure.09, Faint... others (which are totally wicked! btw) but I can't help but disaprove the band. (Their hair is cool though.) I want to know. Is it wrong for me to only listen to the songs that have no swearing and things, or should I take into account the whole band in general? They aren't very positive..... but they aren't unreasonably negative in all their songs. I'm looking for perhaps an adult Christian's point of view, or someone that can assist a young 14 year old in need. Any additional details about them would be alrighty.

A question about Linkin Park....?

Hello. I am 22 and also a Christian. I used to listen to Linkin Park, and I do understand where you are coming from. I think it is a personal decision for each individual. If you understand the difference between what you choose to believe and the message you are receiving in these songs, and choose not to let them affect you negatively, then I don't see harm in it. No doubt, there are worse bands to listen to! But, some might also argue that as Christians, we are to keep our minds toward God and focus our attention on uplifting or encouraging music, stating that even somewhat negative music might affect us subconsciously, even if we feel that we understand the difference between what we're hearing and what we believe in (that is what I was told at the time). But ultimately, I don't think it is wrong to listen to that music, however there are better choices, if you are looking to grow in your spiritual walk with God. But you are only 14, so you may just grow out of it like I did! I hope I helped.. best of luck to you!

A question about Linkin Park....?

Linkin Park has a diverse religious background. Mike is Christian. Chester is unkown, and then two are Jewish. I listen to them, and they are probably my favorite band. It is not a sin to listen to them, there new material has language, there old music is clean. Report It

A question about Linkin Park....?

Linkin Park dosen't ever swear in their songs. It is ok if certain bands swear in their songs as long as you don't start doing it since your christian. Hope I helped and Linkin Park is one of my favorite bands of all time! Glad to see them posted up on Yahoo.

A question about Linkin Park....?

ok not to be rude but im so tired of this music thing...listen to what u want n ***** everyone else...whatever makes you happy is the path you should follow...yea get the drift

A question about Linkin Park....?

Quit caring about the band and care about the music. Personally in my opinion Linkin Park is a poser band and happy in comparison to bands like Slayer,Venom and Witchfynde but oh well. Linkin Park should be every mother's wet dream in comparison to Marilyn Manson and all the cool evil bands.

A question about Linkin Park....?

I think that some songs are allright. as long as they're not overly negative.

A question about Linkin Park....?

Are you kidding? Linkin Park is awesome!

I used to be a christian until I listened to "In the End".

A question about Linkin Park....?

As far as I know "Hybrid theory" and "meteora" don't have sex, drug, swearing lyrics, therefore, they are appropriate to listen. "minutes to midnight" has swearing, not good. IT is best not to listen to vile language and such inorder to maintain holiness. God bless.

A question about Linkin Park....?

Don't you DARE say they aren't very positive until you do some research about what they are involved in!!!!!!!! You CANNOT judge something like that just by their lyrics unless you understand the point they are trying to convey. For me, their music is HIGHLY positive and empowering, and helped pull me out of a deep and dark place!!!

A question about Linkin Park....?

im a 15 year old christian, and i listen to them. i also listen to MCR (both bands dont exactly encourage a religious lifestlye) but i love them anyway. dont worry about swearing and stuff. just dont let that stuff have an impact on your life. (trust me, i cuss way too much and its bad lol)

sometimes music is something we feel and sometimes its just something to listen to and enjoy. just because linkin park gives off a bad "vibe" to you doesnt mean that they will turn u evil or anything.

A question about Linkin Park....?

It's good music, Christianity questions anything against the faith. You need to question the motives behind you inquiry.

A question about Linkin Park....?

A young 14 year old in need? At the mercy of Christians? Life can be very, very cruel.

A question about Linkin Park....?

Music is music. Music speaks about life and human experiences, whether those aspects of life and those experiences are positive or negative. Music is like literature, and the themes contained in music are not always positive.

Cursing, on the other hand, is never condemned in the Bible, and is only a form of language disapproved of by higher classes of society. Jesus and Paul both used words, which could be considered vulgar. When a musician uses a curse word it is usually for three reasons: 1) To give human qualities to the narrator of the song and provide deeper levels of emotion 2) The musician is presenting the narrator as a lower class of society or 3) The musician uses poor language himself and is uneducated.

All in all, there is nothing wrong with listening to non-Christian music as long as the lyrics are not mocking Christ himself.

Do not become one of those persons who listen ONLY to Christian music just because he or she is a Christian, despite how untalented the musicians are.

A question about Linkin Park....?

The positive for me in Linkin Park's music is they talk about issues that many other bands will not tackle. The biggest example is 'Breaking the Habit' in which they tackle the issue of child abuse. A band that is willing to make the world a better place by making an issue larger and known so it can be resolved without more violence is very positive to me. It makes a lasting change in a society that can be negative.

A question about Linkin Park....?

I am glad that you are paying attention to lyrics and analyzing them from a Christian viewpoint. My son and I have good talks over the lyrics to some of the songs he likes. He does have some Linkin Park. I find their lyrics to have some depth, but still coming from a worldly perspective. Keep analyzing, keep holding fast to Biblical truth.

A question about Linkin Park....?

dont go on, really. Likin Park is one of the greatest rock groups, and should not be judged for their expliced content. Im 16 years old, but im not a christian, im Wiccan. And part of my modo is that "u shouldt care what others think, just care about what you think." and i think it fits here. Dont get rid of ur listening to music, music hits the soul and defines you by each song u listen to. not being a swearer, but theres more to the song than swearing. Just have fun listening to ur own music.

Blessed be!!!!

A question about Linkin Park....?

I have been a Christian for a long time. I am in my 40's. Linkin Park is one band that I really do like. It's true songs like "Crawling" and "In the End" seem depressing but sometimes we all feel that way when life gets hard.

But that isn't all they are about though. The song "Breaking the Habit" is a powerful message about a person making an attempt to better his life and correct mistakes of the past. The same can be said for "What Ive Done". It is about someone who has made amends and has decided to forgive himself. As a Christian, how can you find fault with the lyrics,

"Let mercy come

and wash away what I've done."

In an other song on their latest CD called "Leave out all the Rest", the person is asking his love ones to remember what was good about him when he's gone and to forget all the rest. That song has a beautiful sentiment to it.

So I am one Christian who definitely approves of Linkin Park
